A Guide to Sound Healing

Hi, I’m Oceana—a fully qualified and insured sound practitioner based on the Isle of Wight, a proud member of the College of Sound, and the founder of Your Sound Guide.

I offer group sound baths, private one-to-one sessions, and bespoke sound experiences for private groups—all thoughtfully designed to help you reconnect, release, and realign.

Using the transformative power of frequencies and sound waves, my sessions gently support your nervous system, promote deep relaxation, restore clarity and energetic balance throughout your body and mind.

Whether you’re completely new to sound healing or seeking to deepen your practice, I hold a safe, grounded space for meaningful rest, inner exploration, and renewal.

Sound healing
is an ancient practice

Sound has been used as a therapeutic tool across cultures and civilizations for thousands of years. From ancient temples to sacred rituals, people have long tapped into the power of sound and music to relax the body, calm the mind, alleviate stress, shift consciousness, and support self-healing.

Many traditions incorporate instruments like singing bowls, gongs, flutes, and chimes—not just for their beauty, but for their ability to affect us on a cellular and energetic level. In India, this deep connection between sound and healing is known as Nada Yoga. Greek physicians used musical instruments to heal patients, using the power of vibration to promote healthy digestion, sleep and emotional disturbances, while in China and Japan, temple bells echoed through sacred spaces for spiritual and energetic balance. In England, bells and vocal chants have long played a role in ceremonial and healing practices, particularly in early Celtic and monastic traditions.

Today, sound healing is experiencing a revival—as we begin to remember, reconnect, and rediscover the ancient wisdom encoded in these sacred vibrations.

Meet the instruments

Each instrument I use has been selected not only for its beautiful tone, but for its ability to activate healing, promote balance, and connect you with your inner world. My objective while performing with these sacred instruments is always to align with the highest good of all attendees. The intention behind sound is just as important as the sound itself. When approached with care, expertise, and purpose, these instruments support healing across physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.

Quartz crystal singing bowls

These bowls produce an enveloping, pure tone that resonates deeply through the body and mind. The sound they emit is often compared to a continuous white noise—soothing, spacious, and deeply immersive. These bowls are crafted from nearly 100% pure quartz, one of the most powerful conductors of sound energy, allowing their vibrations to move effortlessly through the physical and energetic body.

I specialise in working with quartz crystal singing bowls tuned to the ancient Solfeggio frequencies, a system known to support deep energetic shifts. These tones are used to promote chakra alignment and the renewal of the body’s energy centres, helping to restore balance and harmony within.

While the crystalline tones are at the heart of each session, I also occasionally incorporate traditional Himalayan metal bowls to gently open and close the sound ceremony—providing a grounded contrast that supports integration and presence.

The Gong

I use a 32" wind gong, known for its rich, expansive tonal range and deep, resonant vibrations. When played with sensitivity and precision, the gong produces an immersive field of sound that envelops the body, penetrating through every layer of being—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. This experience helps bring the entire system back into a natural state of balance and harmony.

Think of the body as an orchestra, with each organ, system, and emotion acting as a distinct instrument. Over time, some of these may fall out of tune. The gong serves as a powerful tuning device, gently recalibrating your inner orchestra. During a gong bath, this realignment isn’t just heard—it’s deeply felt.

Koshi Chimes

Koshi chimes offer a refined evolution of the traditional wind chime, handcrafted to produce a delicate cascade of rich, harmonious tones. Encased in natural bamboo, each chime resonates with layered overtones that create an ethereal, uplifting soundscape.

Each of the four Koshi chimes is tuned to represent one of the elements—Earth, Water, Fire, and Air—inviting a sense of balance and connection to nature. Often used in meditation and spiritual practice, their gentle tones support deep relaxation, stillness, and inner peace. In many cultures, wind chimes are also symbols of protection, believed to attract good fortune and dispel negative energy.

Tuning Fork Therapy

Tuning Fork Therapy is a gentle yet powerful method for restoring physical, emotional, and energetic balance. I use a variety of both weighted and unweighted tuning forks—primarily during one-to-one sessions—to clear blocked energy within the body and the surrounding biofield or aura.

These precision-calibrated instruments deliver subtle sound vibrations that interact with the nervous system, tissues, and energetic field, encouraging deep relaxation, release, and realignment. Applied to areas of tension or imbalance, tuning forks help restore flow, ease discomfort, and promote a profound sense of clarity and inner harmony.
